The Right To Protest

The Secretary of State, Condoleeza Rice went to the UK today, at the invitation of the Foreign Secretary, Jack Straw. Her visit was controversial, and she was met in several places by protesters. Interestingly enough, she didn’t seem to mind saying she had “no problem with people exercising their democratic rights.” She added: “I think if there are indeed different views that it’s best to express them, not to keep them bottled up.”

Hmmm. If only others who were the subject of protests (especially peaceful ones) could be so calm and reasonable.
